Pancakes in Amsterdam: brunch at the Breakfast Club

If I had to choose a favorite breakfast it would surely be a stack of pancakes. (Confession: or just something from a bakery in Paris). Sometimes I bake them myself, but I find it even more fun (and easy) to eat pancakes at a nice breakfast place. Especially when I’m in Amsterdam for the weekend and I’ve been to the Breakfast Club a few times. Where, as the name suggests, you can order breakfast dishes all day long. So I ate Pancakes in Amsterdam.

Every now and then I combine a concert with a weekend in Amsterdam. And since a hotel breakfast is often quite expensive compared to what you get, I like to have breakfast in Amsterdam. I discovered the Breakfast Club in the Pijp area when I happened to walk by it. A day later I decided to go back to the restaurant. I was immediately excited by the atmosphere of the restaurant and when I saw that there are pancakes on the menu I was immediately convinced. Since then I have eaten at the Breakfast club at Cornelis Troostplein 4 several times.

Industrial but cozy

The Breakfast club is located in the middle of Amsterdam’s de Pijp district. The breakfast/lunch joint has a spacious terrace where you can eat outside on sunny days. Inside, the restaurant consists of two spaces. The area with the bar, which directly overlooks the terrace. And if you walk further back, you have another large space with a conservatory to the left of the kitchen. We sat in the first space and chose a spot by the window. (The terrace was already full, unfortunately.)

The large windows and bright interior make the restaurant look spacious. The wall behind the wooden bar has a brick look and wooden shelves hang from it for glasses. There are definitely industrial elements reflected in interior, but it also looks cozy and cozy at the same time.

Popular lunch in Amsterdam

The first time I went to the Breakfast Club in Amsterdam was on a Saturday morning in September. Now Amsterdam is always busy, but on this sunny Saturday, it seemed that many people had come out of their homes to eat out. The terrace was full and almost all the tables inside were occupied as well. (Only the second room was still fairly empty). Because it was so crowded, it also took a little longer before we got our food. The coffee came fairly quickly, but it took more than three quarters of an hour before our order came. I have also been there on a weekday morning, but even then it is a matter of luck whether a table is free. (Or you have to make a reservation).

Pancakes in Amsterdam

Of course, it wouldn’t surprise you if you read the beginning of this blog, I ordered pancakes. The New York City Breakfast consists of pancakes with seasonal fruit, bacon, marshmallows and butter. The pancakes are served with maple syrup. I love the combination of sweet and salty, so too the pancakes with bacon. The pancakes at the Breakfast Club are nice and fluffy and good tasting. As for me, I could have done with a little more fruit, but I still like the pancakes. I paid €15 for the pancakes and the latte macchiato was €3.50.

Lunch in the Pijp

At the Breakfast Club, the menu includes breakfast burgers, cakes, egg dishes and sandwiches in addition to various pancakes. And I must say that many of the other dishes on the menu appeal to me as well. I think there is a nice atmosphere in the restaurant and had a delicious meal. In that respect, I would definitely come back there again if I want to eat pancakes in Amsterdam.
