Cheap hotel in Paris – Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé
Are you going to Paris for a few days and are you looking for a cheap hotel in Paris? Then I would really like to share this tip with you! During a city trip to Paris, I stayed at Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé. A hotel in Montmatre, within walking distance of the Sacre Coeur and the Moulin Rouge. I really liked the hotel and the price wasn’t too bad!
Before my city trip to Paris, I booked my hotels. Initially I looked through Booking.com, but found out by accident that I could also book hotels through Tui. (At first I thought that was only for package tours, but it turned out it wasn’t the case). The price difference between Booking and Tui was quite a big difference, it saved over €400 for four nights. So I booked four nights at Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé through Tui. (And no, this is not a collaboration, if only it were haha. It just saved a lot of money).
Cheap hotel in Montmartre
Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé is located in the middle of the Montmartre district and is easily accessible by public transportation. Take the metro to Blanche and from there it is a 400-meter walk to the hotel. The walk is uphill, so with heavy suitcases it is not ideal. From the hotel you can walk to famous sights such as the Sacre Coeur, le Mur des je t’aime and the Moulin Rouge. An ideal location if you want to explore the Montmartre district. You will also find plenty of cozy and tasty restaurants. I ate at two different restaurants and I would recommend them both. (Le Sancerre and au boîte aux Lettres).
Hotel room hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé
When you book a cheap hotel in Paris, you probably don’t expect too much. But I found the room in the hotel to be absolutely fine. I slept in a room on the first floor. Because the building is built up against the hill, when seen from the street, I slept on the second floor. The room is not very big, but nice.
When you enter, the bathroom is immediately on the left. This one has everything you need. A toilet, sink and spacious shower. If you continue, you come into the room. Against the wall of the bathroom there is a small desk and a closet. In with center is a double bed with a nightstand on either side. The TV hangs on the wall at the foot of the bed. There is no room to lay your suitcases flat on the floor. Fortunately, there is a stool for the suitcases. The window on the right side of the bed overlooks the street.
Walls in Paris theme
Although the room is really small (quite normal in Paris) I found it to be a very nice room. The room is attractively decorated and the decoration has also been thought of. The theme of the hotel is Marcel Aymé, a French writer. Each room is decorated differently and inspired by one of the writer’s books. The wall behind the bed is all Paris themed. The wallpaper features French flags and various Parisian monuments. I think it looks very nice. The atmosphere is cozy and everything is neat and clean. Last but not least, the beds are comfortable.
Breakfast buffet Hôtel Littéraire Marcel Aymé
My booking included breakfast, so I took advantage of the breakfast buffet. The breakfast room is in the basement of the hotel, so it is a windowless room. The room is divided into two areas and separated by a wall. The buffet is not very extensive but has plenty of choice. Think of the standard breakfast buffet items such as croissants, baguettes, casino bread and crackers. There is also yogurt with fruits and you can choose from boiled and scrambled eggs.
Experience cheap hotel in Paris
My experience with the hotel is very positive. The room is nice, the breakfast buffet is fine and the overall atmosphere in the hotel is pleasant. The people behind the reception desk are very nice and the ladies of the housekeeping department also do a good job. Every evening when we return from a day in the city, our room is completely clean again. We booked the hotel through Tui and paid €472 for four nights, including breakfast and guided city tour. Next time I go to Paris, I would definitely consider this hotel again. Especially because of its location and value for money. (In case you are now thinking huh €472 is not a cheap hotel in Paris at all, just for fun check booking.com. The average price for a hotel in Paris is about €250 per night).
