Merels week

First dinner with my dining group and 900 cups of lemonade | Merels week #2

Monday

After the weekend, I always have to get used to the fact that the work week has started again. Luckily we started the day with cake because we wanted to unveil the new logo of one of our products. That afternoon we had sausage rolls to celebrate a colleague’s 10 years of service. I declined those because I consciously choose to eat meat at most once a week. That evening I did a pilates class at the gym and did a few things for my blog.

Tuesday

A perfectly normal work day and at the end of the day I drove to my parents’ house to pick up a package (and of course to cuddle with Cody). I had ordered clothes for my cousin’s wedding. Unfortunately both outfits didn’t fit very well and I sent everything back. So one of these days I will go to a store to try on the outfits. In the evening I went for a run. Did I feel like it? Absolutely not and the whole way I kept asking myself why I thought this was a good idea. Nevertheless, I went ahead and in retrospect I am very glad I went.

Wednesday

This week it was evening four-day walk in Holten. Our field hockey club was on the route so we were asked if we could hand out lemonade with some teammates. I was at the club at 17:00 and helped with the preparations. After all, almost 900 cups of lemonade had to be handed out. Around 7 p.m., when the biggest rush was over, I went home.

Thursday

I decided to work from home for a day and it worked out well for me. I was super productive and flew through my to do list. My mom came over for a coffee with Cody, so that was nice too. After work I wanted to go running, but it was raining super hard. So I opted for a workout via YouTube and that actually worked out well for me. Earlier this week I had started the book de Liedfabriek by Marjon Weerink and I was very curious to see how it ended. So the rest of the evening I sat on the couch with a book.

Friday

Late last year I responded on Instagram under a post by Leonie ter Veld to start a dining club. In January I went out for drinks in Deventer with about 20 ladies and from that smaller clubs were to be formed. Last Friday I went out for dinner with three women from the group at El Popo in Deventer. In the beginning a little weird, because we had only seen each other once. But it was great fun and as far as I’m concerned worth repeating. So thank you Leonie!

Saturday

The first day of the long weekend and of course I had 100,000 things I wanted to do. I sorted out some photos and videos, cleaned my house and went for a run. The weather was bad all day, but it was briefly dry when I went out the door. And less than 2 minutes after I returned, it started raining again.

That afternoon I went to visit my parents and my aunt and uncle came as well. Nice to see them again and it was a fun afternoon/evening.

Sunday

I started the day on the couch with Netflix on and the laptop on my lap. That afternoon I went with my parents to visit a former colleague of my mother’s. We had a nice chat and a walk. My mom’s former colleague has a cottage on the edge of the woods, so that’s ideal if you want to hike or bike in the Veluwe.
