Last dinner out at Il Campanile and last field hockey game | Merels week #3
Last week began with some dreary days, but the last days of the week were full of summer. I worked at home with Julia, went out to dinner and played the last field hockey game of the season. Ooh and I accidentally took a detour home because I was too distracted by a phone conversation with my mom and low-flying hot air balloons.
Monday
This week started with a day off for a change and that was wonderful. I finally had time to finish some overdue to do’s like my administration. Also, my dad came over to hang some picture frames. That had been on my wish list for a while and I think it is so cozy that they are hanging now. Only I still have to print a picture for one frame. So it looks a little gnarly.

Tuesday
After a long weekend, I had to get back into the office. Fortunately it is now in full peak season, so I didn’t have to be bored. After work, I actually wanted to go for a run, but it looked so threatening that I didn’t feel like it. Instead, I went for a walk and took an umbrella with me just to be sure. Fortunately, that one turned out to be unnecessary.

Wednesday
After working hours I drove by Action because I needed to exchange some things. I had bought cushions for my lounge set, but they turned out to be way too small. Luckily I found cushions that do fit. So now I can sit outside. Of course I also bought some notebooks (oops) and a holder for my makeup brushes. That evening I had field hockey practice and on the way home I took a detour. It wasn’t entirely intentional, but I was on the phone with my mom and two hot air balloons flew very low over the road. I got distracted and drove right past the exit to my house, uhm not convenient. Anyway, I took a detour over the Markelose mountain, enjoyed the setting sun and came across a roe deer. So actually the detour was not so bad.

Thursday
Thursday I worked a day at the office. That evening I went for a walk with my parents and Cody. That is the advantage of living in the same village. Spontaneously calling to go for a walk together. We had a nice chat and set the steps for the day. At home I plopped down on the couch to watch some episodes of Fire Country.

Friday
Thanks to the beautiful weather, Friday felt a bit like a vacation day. Since I went out to dinner with Julia that night and we both worked from home anyway, she showed up at my door around 9:30 or so. We both worked at the kitchen table and I must say I had a pretty productive day. At noon we walked around Markelose Mountain, got sandwiches at the supermarket and had lunch on the little terrace in front of my house. That evening we went out to dinner at Il Campanile, the Italian restaurant in Markelo, which is unfortunately closing its doors for good in a month. So I’m glad we had another dinner here. After dinner we got an ice cream at the snack bar and I took Julia to the train station.

Saturday
Every Saturday morning my dad and Cody come by with a fresh loaf of bread from the bakery. Usually they are in a hurry because Cody has to go to dog school. This week the class didn’t go, so this time they had time to have a cup of coffee.
Saturday morning is usually when I do my housework. So too this week. All morning I was busy cleaning and tidying. Early in the afternoon I had a walking date at the Holterberg. It was fun and before I knew it, it was half past four. The afternoon was nice, but I decided not to go on a second date.
That evening I dogysat Cody. At first I wanted to take her to my house, but because I don’t really have a garden I thought it would be better to spend the evening at my parents. That way Cody could lie outside and I could do my laundry in the meantime.

Sunday
The last field hockey game of the season was on the schedule. To make it an extra fun day we gathered at the field hockey club at 11:45. Lunch together and at 13:00 the whistle sounded to start the game. We played against Apeldoorn and ended the game 3-3. After the game we stayed for a drink at the club. That evening I had dinner at my parents’ house, as it was Father’s Day.
