Rooftop terrace in Prague: Terasa U Prince
The Instagram hotspot in Prague is the rooftop terrace of Hotel U Prince. The rooftop terrace is described as one of the most photogenic spots in Prague. During my city trip with Ernestina, we decided that our visit to the Czech capital would not be complete without a a visit to the most beautiful roof terrace in Prague. So we had lunch at Terasa U Prince and took lots of pictures of the l view of the city. I would like to take you to this place with the most beautiful view in Prague.

Instagram spot Prague
Before our city trip to Prague, I did some research on Instagram and read several blogs for inspiration. I came across many photos of a rooftop terrace overlooking the Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí). And yes, Ernestina and I wanted such a photo too. Fortunately, the location was not that hard to figure out: the rooftop terrace of the Hotel U Prince. So we reserved a spot on the terrace.
Reservations at Terassa U Prince
We reserved a table on the rooftop terrace of Hotel U Prince two and a half weeks before our departure. We chose to go around lunchtime so it would be light outside. After all, we weren’t sure what time it would get dark and we wanted a daylight photo. Booking was easy through the hotel’s website. I just didn’t get an email confirming our reservation. Just to be sure, I took a screenshot of the confirmation page on the website. Fortunately, all went well with the reservation, and we were able to go through on the day of our lunch without any problems.

Our experience
From the hotel lobby, we took the elevator to the top floor of the hotel. There, there were clear signs directing us to the entrance of the restaurant. Where we were welcomed and taken to our table on the terrace. The terrace consists of two parts. On the right side “the famous” photo booth. And on the left side the spacious, covered terrace with dozens of tables. We got a place in the middle of the covered roof terrace. At the time we were there, it slowly started to drizzle. We were quite happy that the dining area of the terrace is covered. The photo booth is not covered. And the tables right next to it are only covered by umbrellas. (Plus you can only have drinks when you sit there).

Instagram photo spot in Prague
The famous Instagram corner is not on the part of the terrace where you can eat elaborately. We walked there with our drinks and took extensive photos. The view of Old Town Square from the rooftop terrace is beautiful. A little unfortunate that it just started to drizzle that afternoon and the sky turned gray. Of course, I would have preferred a photo with blue sky. But it is certainly a nice angle to take pictures and we were definitely not the only ones who came to the roof terrace for the picture.
Having lunch in Prague
Since we were sitting on the terrace around lunchtime and I was starting to get quite hungry, I decided to order lunch. (Secretly, I had already looked at the menu beforehand and was just really hungry for truffle pasta). So the choice was not very difficult and I chose the truffle pasta. It tasted great and for 399 Czech crowns (about €17) the dish was quite affordable. Keep in mind in Prague that the waiters expect you to pay 10-15% tip. They often put this on the receipt or is explicitly stated when you get the bill. In most restaurants we paid this tip. So you are often a bit more expensive than what is listed on the receipt.

Is a visit to Prague’s most beautiful rooftop terrace worthwhile?
I loved the experience of being on the rooftop terrace and am glad we were able to take “THE Instagram photo of Prague. But I don’t necessarily think lunch on the terrace really adds value. I think we would have been quite satisfied with just a drink as well. After all, we would have gotten a table on the part with the best view. After all, that’s what we wanted to go to the most beautiful roof terrace in Prague for.
