Brunch in Antwerp
What is a good place for brunch in Antwerp? That question I asked my colleagues before I headed in that direction for a weekend. A colleague tipped the WASBAR and after seeing the pictures on the Internet I was immediately excited. We ended up having brunch at the WASBAR in Antwerp and all I can say is it really comes highly recommended!
The Laundry Bar is a chain of restaurants/laundryettes that you can find in several Belgian cities. The concept is the same everywhere, the WASBAR has several AEG washing machines and dryers that you can use for a fee. While your clothes are in the machine, you can enjoy a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner. You can also have extended drinks here. Ideal for combining the much-needed with something fun. But even if you want to leave the laundry at home, you can come here for a bite to eat and a drink. (In fact, I think a large part just comes here for the nice atmosphere and delicious food). During our weekend in Antwerp, we opted for brunch out the door at the WASBAR. Initially we had wanted to have lunch here on the day we arrived, but by then the two establishments we walked by were already full. We made reservations for Sunday morning at WASBAR at Melkmarkt 15.

WASBAR is in a central location in the center of Antwerp.In the street are several catering establishments.WASBAR stands out because of the large windows and the name of the restaurant on the facade.The house style of the WASBAR chain comes out clearly. All the establishments have the same style inside and out.The establishment I visited has a high ceiling and consists of a large room on the first floor.There is room for a large number of guests.Those can sit on the various colorful chairs.At the front of the restaurant is a large staircase to the second floor.Here you will find more seating areas and the washing machines, which are part of the WASBAR concept.Upstairs you can use the washing machines, dryers and even iron your laundry.

At WASBAR, you can get something to eat and/or drink all day long. The menu is quite extensive and many of the dishes appeal to me.The cinnamon rolls or the breakfast bagel seemed very tasty to me.But after long hesitation, I still chose the pancakes, mainly because I had been craving them for days.There are several pancakes on the menu and I chose the pancakes with bacon.Although I always like to eat my pancakes with bacon, I had never had pancakes with bacon before.But after this delicious brunch in Antwerp, I know for sure that I will choose the combination pancakes with bacon and Maple syrup more often.
Is the WASBAR worth a visit?
As far as I’m concerned, a visit to WASBAR is definitely worth repeating!I had a delicious meal and was especially excited by the atmosphere in the restaurant.The colorful interior, the authentic building and of course the washing machines. They make the WASBAR a unique concept and that just makes me very happy. 🙂
