Visiting Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam

    /
    Fabriek des lumières in Amsterdam

What to do during a weekend in Amsterdam? That’s what Julia and I wondered when we spent a few days in our capital city. We wanted to do more than just shopping and eating.  But also wanted to do something that can only be done in Amsterdam. In the end we chose the Fabrique des Lumières, an art exhibition, but slightly different from a normal exposation. The paintings are projected on the wall, so it feels like you can walk right through them.  Atelier de Lumières Paris The concept of the Fabrique des Lumières Amsterdam is from the same creators…

7 x Instagram photo spots in Prague

    /

The Czech capital is simply super photogenic. If you want to create content for your Instagram account or blog (or just shoot cute pictures for your scrapbook), this city is definitely the place to be. Together with Ernestina, I was in the city for three days to enjoy, but also to work on our blogs. I am happy to share my favorite Instagram photo spots in Prague.  Rooftopbar Terasa U Prince  Hotel U Prince’s rooftop terrace has been described as one of the most popular Instagram photo spots in Prague. Chances are that you have seen pictures of this on…

Backpacking in Asia – Week 2

    /

I am currently solo traveling in southeast Asia. On my blog I am sharing my weekly experiences during my trip. This time I am writing all about my days in Kanchanaburi, visiting an ethical (hands-off) elephant sanctuary and Songkran in Bangkok. Monday, April 8 – Travel day to Kanchanaburi  Once again a travel day was scheduled. This time from Ayutthaya to Kanchanaburi. Through my guesthouse I had booked a minivan that picked me up at my hotel in the morning. On the way I mostly slept and looked out the window a bit. In Kanchanaburi I had lunch at a…

What to do in Vienna in summer?

What to do in Vienna in summer? That’s what I wondered during a heat wave in Vienna when I was there for a city break. In summer, the temperatures can be quite high and then it is quite a challenge to keep your cool. I would like to give you some tips for Vienna in the summer. During my trip it was over 30 degrees.  Like any big city, Vienna in the heat is not ideal. Because of all the buildings, the heat lingers for a long time and the temperature can be several degrees above the temperature outside the…

    Over travelingblackbird

Even though I regularly share my adventures in Asia on Polarsteps, I also want to share some updates from this special trip here on my blog. I would like to share everything I experienced during my first week in Thailand. Later I will link to more extensive blogs about the different activities in Asia.  Monday, April 1 – the day before departure It feels very unrealistic that my big trip is now so close. Backpacking in Asia always felt like something I would like to do someday in the future. And now suddenly my solo adventure is only one day…

Best cheesecake in Prague at petite France

    Cheesecake Praag

‘This is the best cheesecake I ate in Prague and definitely a reason to come back to the city.’ I said enthusiastically when I was with Ernestina at Petite France in Prague. This French bakery is an absolute hot spot in Prague that should not be missed during your city break. Not only does it look fantastic (and is very photogenic), but their baked goods are to die for! We were on our way to the dancing house when we came across Petite France. The French Bakery in downtown Prague particularly stood out because of its green color. Which matched…

8 sights in Prague you shouldn’t miss | City trip Prague

    /

A city trip to Prague really shouldn’t be missing from your bucket list. The city has everything to offer. Beautiful buildings, an interesting history, lots of restaurants with cozy terraces, nice stores and plenty of photogenic places. The city is quite compact so you can do everything on foot. Along the way you will be surprised by the beauty of the city. And while you’re there, you really shouldn’t miss these sights in Prague. Charles Bridge The Charles Bridge is the most famous bridge over the Vltava, the river that flows right through the city. The bridge connects the Old…

Cheap hostel in Prague: A&O Prague Rhea

    Goedkoop hotel Praag

During my Prague city trip, I slept at a cheap hostel in Prague with Ernestina. We slept in the A&O Prague Rhea hostel, a large hostel on the outskirts of Prague. We booked a package trip, including night train to Prague and two nights in the city. We could choose from several hotels and hostels, but went for the cheapest option: A&O Prague Rhea. The hostel gets good reviews, the pictures looked good, and the hostel easily accessible by public transportation. Video hostel in Prague: After a night’s sleep on the overnight train from Deventer to Prague, our train arrived…

    Hotel Hoog Holten

In the middle of nature, on the edge of National Park Sallandse Heuvelrug you can find hotel Hoog Holten. A wonderful location to stay overnight if you want to spend a weekend in Salland or to go out for a nice dinner. Hotel Hoog Holten is a fantastic wedding location as well. And that’s exactly the reason for my visit to this hotel, the wedding of Ernestina and Chiel. I was an evening guest at the party and stayed overnight at the hotel. So I couldn’t resist to write a blogpost about my stay in this hotel. Hotel Hoog Holten…
